Tuned mass damper for high rise building under excessive structural excitation

Abstract
Tuned mass are used to regulate the vibration of high rise structure subjected to heavy wind and other seismic forces. Under the influence these forces (wind, earthquake etc.) structure performance of buildings will be realized using both active and passive systems. But active system required very high enough engineering and implementation costs, high maintenance costs, unnecessary system complexities and it requires continuous and non interrupted power supply when compared to passive systems. A design for passive tuned mass damper system is presented with analytical simulations and component test results. These demonstrate the effectiveness of using tuned mass in conjunction with a maintenance free, hydraulic damper, having frictionless flexural seals to successfully reduce the response of a high rise building subject to severe wind inputs.
