Abstract
The transition to renewable energy is at the forefront of global
strategies to mitigate climate change and achieve a carbon-free future. Fossil
fuel dependency has historically driven economic growth but at the cost of
rising greenhouse gas emissions and environmental degradation. Renewable energy
sources such as solar, wind, and hydropower present sustainable alternatives
that can reduce emissions, enhance energy security, and foster socioeconomic
development. However, their adoption faces significant challenges, including
technological intermittency, high initial investment, outdated infrastructure,
and fragmented policy frameworks. This paper examines the role of renewable
energy in reshaping global energy systems, highlighting both the barriers and
opportunities associated with its integration. It also discusses the influence
of renewable energy on economic growth, environmental sustainability, and
geopolitical dynamics, with case studies demonstrating successful
implementation. The findings reaffirm that while obstacles persist, coordinated
international policies, technological innovation, and stakeholder collaboration
can accelerate the transition to a low-carbon, sustainable energy future.
