Abstract
BRICS is recognised as a prominent investment
market and a powerful global bloc, possessing the capacity to influence
economic and political realms significantly. All BRICS countries are active
contributors to key international and multilateral institutions, such as the
World Trade Organisation, the United Nations, the Group of Twenty (G-20), and
the United Nations Framework Convention. This study aims to gain an in-depth
understanding of India's international trade relations with other BRICS
countries, evaluate trends in exports and imports among these nations, and
examine the overarching global export and import trends of BRICS nations. The
relevant data has been mainly collected from secondary sources, including
various official websites of the United Nations Conference on Trade and
Development (UNCTAD), the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India, the
Export-Import Bank of India, and UN Comtrade, spanning from 2014 to 2023. The
findings indicate that China achieved the highest growth rate, followed by
Russia, India, Brazil, and South Africa, which supports the results of previous
studies (Radulescu et al., 2014; Gusarova, 2021) [5, 17].
Moreover, India has effectively strengthened its international trade within
BRICS countries and in the broader global marketplace.
