Abstract
India, as the world's largest democracy, takes
pride in its electoral system. However, like any democratic process, it faces
challenges and requires continuous improvement. This article analyzes the
electoral reforms in India and focuses on the pivotal role of the Election
Commission in maintaining the integrity and fairness of the electoral process.
It delves into the historical context of electoral reforms, examines key
reforms, and evaluates the efficacy of the Election Commission's role in
safeguarding Indian democracy, drawing insights from relevant provisions of
various statutes and the Constitution.
