Opportunity and challenge of traditional conservation development for Dayak community people in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia

Abstract
This study aims to map the conservation efforts according to indigenous peoples and assess the extent of the opportunities and challenges of indigenous peoples' conservation development in customary forests in Kubung village of Lamandau district of Central Kalimantan province in support of conservation of natural and forest resources.The expected results of the research conducted can provide benefits and also support the form of information required in the implementation of Forestry of Central Kalimantan can be realized. The division of Dayak Torment Kudangan Village is divided into two areas that can be managed for agriculture, plantation, hunting and searching for food/ medicine, etc., there is also protected space and cannot be disturbed at all.This protected area is a traditional conservation area according to the Tomuk Dayak community, which is: Gopung, kekalai Batu, Bukit Kerunduhan, Hulu Ampai or Ampai Penghuluan Bukit and Sungai Hulu Pangindang. These traditional conservation areas are identical to regions that are difficult to access, have magical values or are considered haunted also have traditional functions/ benefits related to culture, economy, ecology for the local community. Opportunities and challenges related to the existence of protected areas are more influenced by factors both internally and externally, which makes the presence of strengths and weaknesses for the sustainability of protected areas as well as opportunities and challenges that require awareness, especially people in Kubung village to be able to manage the factors in order to provide a positive benefit for the sustainability of protected areas, natural resources also for the community.
