Milk production practices in Purangaon of Vaijapur taluka

Abstract
Vaijapur taluka is comes under Low rainfall, Medium Soil, Scarcity Zone. So farmers belongs to this zone majorly comes under poverty line. To boost their economic status now a day people turns towards the milk production. From the 298 houses of purangaon village of Vaijapur taluka so many farmers turns towards the dairy business for addition to farming. In our survey, farmers keeps 18 Indigenous draught breed of cattle, 128 Exotic dairy breed of cattle’s, 04 Indigenous buffalo breed and 133 goats. Collectively per day milk production of this village are 751 litres. Out of which 57 (7.56%) litres was Indigenous cow milk, 602 (80.15%) litres was Jersey milk, 22 (2.92%) litres Buffalo milk and 70 (9.32%) litres goat milk.
